This course is a great introduction to youth mental health. It helps delegates to understand what mental health is and how to identify poor mental health in young people generally (signs/symptoms/warning signs). It explores the impact of stigma and discrimination, how to support recovery, gives ideas of where to signpost young people to and explores how to have positive conversations about mental health with young people . Lastly, it focuses on how to look after self whilst supporting others. Whilst this course does not talk about specific mental health diagnoses like anxiety or depression etc it does spend some time talking about self-harm and suicide to raise awareness. This is delivered in a very empathic and sensitive way.
Delegates will receive a certificate from MHFA, a comprehensive manual and workbook.
This course can be delivered face-to-face or virtually online. This can also be delivered as an in-house course to a minimum of 8 delegates.
